But other education advocates said international spending comparisons can be misleading, and they contend the federal government is shortchanging schools just as academic expectations soar.
Its a broken recond with these people. Can't they come up with new ideas to help our schools or are they just out to suck as much money out of your pocketbook that they can?
American students should be challenged to work harder, said Jack Jennings, director of the Center on Education Policy, a research group that advocates for better public schools.
This is the key! Kids aren't stupid, they just need to be pushed. That doesn't mean we give them homework out the whazoo, it means we need to show them what we expect and teach it. One of the #1 problems in schools is discipline and lack of respect for authority. If we don't get that back, our kids are doomed to mediocrity.
