Peggy Noonan Asks A Good Question

Q. About our politicians today: "What is wrong with them?"

A. "All power tends to corrupt and absolute power corrupts absolutely. Great men are almost always bad men, even when they exercise influence and not authority: still more when you superadd the tendency or the certainty of corruption by authority." - John Dalberg-Acton

Bush = BTK Killer

And I quote...
There was something about Bush that reminded me of another president, a man I’d seen on the news the previous evening. It was the former president of his church, the BTK terrorist, justifying *his* project.

Liberals are freakin' hilarious when they're out of power.

The Speech the President DEFINITELY Should NOT Give

Or as titled by the New York Times: The Speech the President Should Give

I can't wait to see the reaction in the blogosphere to this. Not sure if it really deserves a reaction, but it's chock full of inconsistencies and errors so it should be fodder for the pundits.

Here are just a few I found (comments in red)...
  1. "The reality is that the Bush administration's choices have made Iraq into what it wasn't before the war - a breeding ground for jihadists."
No John, there were plenty of jihadists in Iraq before the war. There may be more now, but even you could not have stopped them from coming in. And where does he get the 16-20k jihadists number? Remember though, FLYPAPER is sticky.
  2. "Our mission in Iraq is harder because the administration ignored the advice of others, went in largely alone, underestimated the likelihood and power of the insurgency, sent in too few troops to secure the country, ..."
We ignored the French, Russians and Chinese because they all had a vested interest in Saddam. We did NOT go in largely alone. I think we knew there would be resistence, but wars don't always go according to plans. Too few troops - remember this.
  3. "The president must also announce immediately that the United States will not have a permanent military presence in Iraq."
NO WAY! I think we need a base in Iraq for a few years. We've had one in Germany for over 60.
  4. "We're doing our part: our huge military presence stands between the Iraqi people and chaos, and our special forces protect Iraqi leaders."
Emphasis mine. Remember the too few troops comment above? Did John have Teresa edit this?
  5. "The administration must work with the Iraqi government to establish a multinational force to help protect its borders."
Yeah, we know how this would work. 95% US troops in blue iniforms not allowed to shoot the enemy. No thanks.

Read the rest of the nonsense.
I am soooo glad he lost.

Supreme Court Rules Cities May Seize Homes

Article

Of course the headline is more sensational than it needs to be. The right of government to declare Eminent Domain has been around for a very long time. However, this is a new twist. It seems that now if a private person or company can prove that some kind of "public use" can come out of their seizure of your property, then the government has a right to get it for them.

This is ripe for abuse.

All the more reason why we need to get those liberal judges off the high court.

Record-high Oil

Crude prices briefly hit $60 per barrel today.

Is there any reason/excuse for not funding alternative fuel research. This is getting ridiculous. I think the government and private industry should make this priority one. Once our dependence on foreign oil is gone, we can let the radical islamic states rot in their own feces for all I care.

My, My, It's About Freakin' Time

The end of 'my' is nigh

I hate all the "My" crap in Windows. I'll buy Longhorn just to get rid of it.
